11 firefighters injured in explosion in Los Angeles
SANAA, May 17 (YPA) – Eleven firefighters were injured in a huge explosion, which occurred on Saturday evening, during a fire that broke out in a shopping center in Los Angeles, USA.
According to “Associated Press agency” quoting firefighter commander Eric Scott, the one-storey mall on East Boyd Street caught fire and said: “Rescue teams were called to put out the fire, but a big explosion occurred for an unknown reason, prompting the firefighter to seek help. ”
For his part, firefighter spokesman Nicholas Prang revealed that the fire spread to a number of buildings in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.
According to the agency, the building includes a commercial activity that sells smoking tools and steam smoke, including butane honey oil, which is highly flammable.
In a related context, media reported that the explosion that occurred was so strong that the facades of many buildings were covered in black, while thick smoke was emitted from the building, which could be seen kilometers away.
The agency said that the firefighters were suffering from burns that were not yet known to the degree of seriousness.
