Hundreds of travellers stranded with their families at Zinjibar mosques

ABYAN, May 15 (YPA) – Hundreds of travelers and their families have been stranded in Zinjibar city, Abyan province, after Saudi-led coalition rival factions cut off international route, local sources said

According to Local sources, hundreds of passengers and their families have been stranded on the international line since the clashes between Hadi forces and Islah party militants, on one hand, and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias on the other.

The mosques of Zinjibar have been packed with stranded travelers, their children and their families for five days in a row, amid neglect of their suffering by the coalition and its mercenary government, one of the sources said.

Travelling citizens complain about the suffering of remaining stranded on the international line linking Aden to a number of southern provinces, demanding that both sides quickly open it for hours.

According to local sources, “they demanded that the international line to be opened for even two hours a day to transfer their families from Aden to other provincial directorates.”

Moreover, the people of Abyan province, southern Yemen, live in complete darkness and severe suffering with high temperatures, as a result of the power outage for five days, due to the ongoing clashes between Saudi-led coalition factions in the districts of Zinjibar and Shoqra.

Local sources in Abyan reported on Thursday that a number of districts in the province have been without electricity for days, while the military build-up and confrontations between the so-called “Hadi forces” and the “Southern Transitional Council” militia continue.

“The districts of Laudar, Mudiya, al-Wadea and Mokiras are living in darkness for the fifth day, as a result of the refusal to allow diesel access to the province from Aden,” the sources added.

The ongoing clashes since Monday between Hadi’s forces backed by Islah Party (Brotherhood)’s militants and the transitional council’s militants come at a time when the Corona virus (COVID-19) is sweeping Aden and the southern provinces.

But the deadly epidemic, water, electricity and sanitation services do not mean anything for the coalition rival factions , who are fighting a proxy war in favor of the Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The coalition factions are merely exchanging accusations of causing the disrupting of public services, mainly electricity and water, while watching the citizens suffer due to lack of basic services in addition to interruption of salaries.
