Sanaa intends to close markets, malls in case of lack of commitment to precautions against Corona

SANAA, May 12 (YPA) – Director General of the Public Health and Population Office at the capital Sanaa Dr. Mutahar al-Marwani on Monday that the local authorities may have to close markets and malls in the event of lack of commitment preventive measures against Corona.

Dr. al-Marwani revealed that a number of people who were in contact with the two previously announced cases of Coronavirus, including foreigners, were subjected to quarantine.

He indicated that eight government hospitals in the capital Sanaa and 75 private hospitals, including Kuwait and Zayed Hospitals, are designated as health isolation centers along with two hotels, two centers, and the veterinary institute, in addition to other centers currently being equipped for quarantine.

There are 200 artificial respirators in the capital hospitals, which are not enough to face the cases, noting that the need reaches thousands of respirators as a precaution and to face any emergency in the future, he added.

“There are many international organizations working in the health field, which have surprisingly and unexpectedly suspended their activities in Yemen in such circumstances,” al-Marwani said.
