UAE sentences Omani minor detainee to life imprisonment

ABU DHABI, May 10 (YPA) – The human rights organization “We Record” on Friday revealed an arbitrary blackmail of the UAE regime for an Omani citizen who has been detained for years.

The human rights organization confirmed that the UAE had attempted to blackmail the Omani citizen Abdullah al-Shamsi, in an arbitrary trial two days ago, before the Emirati Federal Court sentenced him to life imprisonment, on charges of collaborating with Qatar, which led to a widespread anger in the Sultanate of Oman and the launch of a tweets campaign on Twitter for his release.

The organization said that on January 7, 2020, the UAE authorities forced al-Shamsi to shoot a video clip in Omani uniforms, in which he made statements about his association with Qatar, after threatening to harm his family if he did not, or if he did the court would grant him an amnesty.
