Tribal sheikh vows to protect Socotra

SOCOTRA, May 7 (YPA) – A tribal sheikh in Socotra province, Issa bin Yaqout, on Thursday sent dozens of fighters to the province on Thursday, vowing to protect and secure Hadiboh city, the capital of the province.

According to sources, Yaqout’s move came after the withdrawal of the Saudi occupation forces from all the military points located at the entrance to the city.

The sources pointed out that the Saudi-backed Islah militants distributed in a number of camps in the province, in conjunction with the arrival of more than 250 recruits belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in the island aboard an UAE ship coming from Hadramout Governorate.

The sources affirmed that a leadership of the UAE and Saudi occupation in Socotra agreed to the STC’s conditions, which represented in the removal of the governor, Ramzi Mahrous who is loyal to the Islah Party, for protection of Hadiboh city under the supervision of joint Saudi and Emirati forces.
