Coalition empties central bank in Aden

ADEN, May 6 (YPA) – Hadi’s government on Tuesday started, at the behest of Saudi Arabia, to empty the Central Bank of Aden from funds through financial transfers to Taiz and Marib provinces.

The “Yemen News Portal” website quoted banking sources in the province of Aden as saying that Hadi’s government had transferred 1.7 billion riyals to Taiz, indicating that this batch is the third in a matter of days, and that huge sums were transferred to Hadramout and Marib, the most prominent stronghold of Islah Party.

The sources pointed out that the funds transference takes place with a Saudi green light and under the protection of Saudi forces controlling the bank.

The move aimed to direct a harsh blow to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council, which decided to open an account in the National Bank to deposit the proceeds for its ambition to control the central bank in Aden.
