Turkish Foreign Ministry: Haftar wants military dictatorship in Libya

SANAA, April 29 (YPA) –

Turkey on Wednesday said that Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar is seeking a “military dictatorship” in Libya, calling on the international community to take action to stop him.

Haftar’s announcement of his withdrawal from the political agreement signed in Skhirat and his transfer of power in the country confirm his unwillingness to resolve the Libyan crisis through political dialogue,” the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement.

Haftar’s statements show his goals to establish a military dictatorship in Libya,” the statement added.

The statement called on the international community “to respond as soon as possible to Haftar, who wants to establish a military regime in Libya.”

The commander of the so-called Libyan National Army (LNA) forces, led by Field Marshal  Khalifa Haftar, announced on Monday evening the “drop” of the 2015-signed agreement in Skhirat.

The commander described the agreement as “suspicious” stressing on accepting the will of the Libyan people to delegate the general command of the national army to take over the affairs of the country.
