ADEN, April 29 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council on Tuesday decided to stop financial transfers from the occupied Aden province to outside Yemen Indefinitely.
Mansour Saleh, a leading member of the STC, explained that this decision was taken to prevent the smuggling of funds of government institutions deposited in banks in the names of people abroad.
A number of government institutions and ministries (Hadi’s government) were not dealing with the central bank and their revenues were deposited in accounts in the names of individuals far from suspicion, and there are attempts to smuggle these funds abroad after the declaration of autonomy by the STC, Saleh added.
Observers considered that this decision is a strong blow to Hadi government, especially as the STC will seize all funds of the government and dispose of them according to its policy.
