5 killed in clashes in northern Afghanistan
SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – Mahboubullah Sidi, the governor of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province, northern Afghanistan, said on Monday that five people, including two policemen and three gunmen, were killed as a result of a clash in the area.
According to Xinhua, the official added that a group of Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in Nawabad area of the troubled Imam Sahib district at two in the morning local time and the police returned fire, forcing the militants to flee, leaving three bodies behind.
He explained that two policemen were also killed during the hour-long battle.
The Taliban, which controls parts of Kunduz province, and its capital, Kunduz, 250 km north of Kabul, have not commented on these incidents so far.
