SANAA, April 21 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday discussed with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Resident Representative in Yemen Altaf Musani the organization’s role in supporting efforts to combat Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Yemen.
In the meeting, Sharaf affirmed that the continued aggression and the blockade increases the difficulties facing the health sector with regard to the provision of medical and preventive needs in order to ward off the risks of the epidemic.
The Foreign Minister handed Musani a letter to WHO’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom concerning the measures taken by the National Salvation Government to confront the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary medical needs to combat this pandemic.
Musani indicated that the WHO office is making great efforts to provide the necessary support to various parts of the country, especially in the field of combating COVID-19 pandemic.
At the same time, he warned of the dangers of cholera epidemic in Yemen, as the rainy season approaches and the return of environmental conditions prepared for its spread.
