STC’s leading member kidnapped in Shabwa

SHABWA, April 20 (YPA) – Gunmen affiliated with Islah Party on Monday morning kidnapped head of branch of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in al-Rawdha district Abdulsalam Habtoor in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

Sources said that the Islah militants raided Habtoor’s home and took him to a prison located in Azzan Maifaa area, amid large dissatisfaction of the area residents.

The kidnapping of Habtoor came after an attack launched by armed tribesmen loyal to the STC against sites and military checkpoints of Islah Party in al-Rawdha district.

Early in April, the Islah militants kidnapped Head of the STC in Shabwa Sheikh Ali Mohsen al-Sulimani and four of its escorts.
