Ben Daghr’s authorities demand end of UAE occupation on Yemeni Island of Socotra

SANAA, May 6 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has pushed Ben Dhagher’s authorities to direct a letter to the United Nations aimed to ending the UAE forces’ occupation on the Yemeni Island of Socotra, officials said on Sunday.

The officials also said that the Saudi Arabia also pushed the pro-coalition Yemeni authorities to ask the UN to put pressure on the UAE to end its participation in the Saudi-led coalition, in a sign of deep disputes between the two major regional countries, Saudi Arabia and Emirates.

Last week, the UAE boosted its presence in Socotra by sending more dozens of its troops and military equipment simultaneously with Ben Daghr’s visit to the Island. The move sparked nationwide anger among the Yemeni people.
