Islah militants kidnap STC’s member, tribesmen in Shabwa

SHABWA, April 14 (YPA) – Islah Party’s militants on Tuesday kidnapped a prominent member of the pro-UAE Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shabwa province and a number of his tribe members, a local source told Yemen Press Agency.

The sources explained that the Islah militants surrounded the houses of Al Khalifa, and kidnapped the STC’s member Ahmed Faraj Abu Khalifa and five tribesmen of Al Faraj tribe, including Mohammed al-Hilali, nicknamed Abu Yareed, in Ataq city.

The move aimed to force both tribes of Al Khalifa and Al Faraj to cede lands from their private properties and divide them among the leaders of Islah, according to the source.
