FM meets UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen

SANAA, April 14 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday met with the United Nations Resident Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande.

The meeting discussed the activities of the UN humanitarian agencies in Yemen, including those related to supporting the precautionary measures taken by the National Salvation Government to confront the Corona virus.

At the meeting, Sharaf urged the United Nations to provide the necessary treatment and preventive assistance urgently, including providing the needs of quarantine centers in addition to providing devices and equipment to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health in providing its services to citizens.

The Foreign Minister handed Grande two protest memoranda to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths concerning the continuation of Saudi-led aggression coalition and its proxies in blocking and detaining ships loaded with oil derivatives and preventing their entry to the port of Hodeidah.

Sharaf called for the speedy release of the detained ships and their unloading as soon as possible, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
