Bloody clashes erupt between STC factions in Lahj

LAHJ, April 13 (YPA) – The occupied Lahj province, southern Yemen, on Monday witnessed bloody clashes between armed factions of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) loyal to the UAE occupation.

Informed sources told Yemen Press Agency that the so-called “security belt” forces, led by Saleh al-Sayyed appointed by the exiled Hadi as director of security in Lahj province, and gunmen from al-Sabiha tribes launched an armed attack on a military site belonging to the so-called 2nd Alamaliqa Brigade in Saber area in the province.

The sources explained that the attack comes in response to an attack by forces of the so-called “Al-Asefah Brigade” led by Osan al-Anshli on the house of Abd Rabbuh al-Mahwali, leader of the so-called Southern Resistance in Lahj and also Deputy Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training in “Hadi’s Government”, on Sunday in Sheikh Othman district of Aden province.

The clashes resulted in the killing of two members of the 2nd Alamaliqa Brigade led by Hamdi Shukri and the injuring of another, while the 2nd Alamaliqa Brigade forces arrested 36 soldiers and seized two armored vehicles and five cars of the security belt forces in Lahj province, the sources added.

The clashes erupted against the backdrop of a dispute between al-Anshli and al-Mahwali over the financial allocations that the latter obtained in the name of the popular resistance to al-Sabiha tribes, according to the sources.
