Washington, April 13 (YPA) – An American sailor on board the US aircraft carrier “USS Theodore Roosevelt” died in the intensive care unit on Monday because of Coronavirus.
According to a statement issued by “Pearl Harbor, the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet, a sailor on the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier (CVN 71), who was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) at US Naval Guam Hospital on April 9, died of COVID-19 complications on April 13.
The statement added that the sailor’s name was withheld for 24 hours, until his relatives were informed.
In this context, laboratory tests were conducted for 92% of the sailors on board the Roosevelt destroyer, where 585 cases of the virus have been confirmed so far.
The Corona outbreak crisis on the US aircraft carrier led to the Pentagon announcing the dismissal of the Roosevelt ship’s captain Brett Crozier from his position, and later led to the resignation of Thomas Modley, the acting US Secretary of the Navy.
