WHO: Middle East countries have opportunity to contain outbreak of corona
SANAA, April 8 (YPA) – The World Health Organization announced that although most countries in the Middle East are witnessing an alarming daily increase in new cases of coronavirus, the region still has an opportunity to contain the spread of the virus.
“We really need a comprehensive approach to a method of strengthening public health measures that have proven to be effective, such as early monitoring, early screening and isolation of the injured,” Reuters quoted the director of emergency in the WHO regional office, Richard Brennan, as saying.
In turn, Ms. Gwi-Yeop Son, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan, said in a statement: “If there is no appropriate coordination, delivery of humanitarian aid as one of the repercussions of Covid 19 may fail or fail.”
According to Reuters, the organization has recorded more than 77,000 injuries and nearly 4,000 deaths in the eastern Mediterranean region, which includes the countries of the Middle East, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Djibouti, but it does not include Turkey.
