Foreign Ministry: Sending UAE troops to Socotra exposes truth of coalition

SANAA, May 5 (YPA) – Foreign Ministry in Sanaa on Saturday said that sending more UAE occupation troops to Yemen’s Socotra Island exposes the truth of the coalition and its false allegations of supporting legitimacy of exiled, resigned Hadi.

“The ministry is closely following credible reports about sending additional military forces by Abu Dhabi to the airport and the port of Socotra, and the expulsion of Yemeni forces responsible for their protection,” an official at the ministry said.

The step confirms the fact that the Saudi and UAE states continue to occupy parts of the Yemeni territories and islands, especially in the southern provinces, the official added.

The official noted that the aggression coalition countries are trying to impose their control as a fait accompli over those lands and islands, to which Article No. 42 of the Hague Convention of 1907 is applicable.

This comes at a time when Socotra is witnessing hot events, after UAE occupation forces controlled its airport and the port, in conjunction with the presence of Ahmed bin Daghr, prime minister in Hadi’s government on the island.
