Gunmen, citizens surrounded Aden airport, cut off sea road

ADEN, April 6 (YPA) – Gunmen and protesting citizens imposed on Monday a suffocating siege on Aden International Airport, southern Yemen, amid heavy deployment of Saudi forces and militia of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.

Eyewitnesses said that the gunmen and protesting citizens imposed a human cordon on the airport gates in order to prevent the arrival of military and civil flights coming from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, amid the two countries’ attempts to introduce the Corona virus to Yemen.

The protesters, who are affiliated with the so-called “Southern Resistance”, led by Abu Hammam, and a number of civil society organizations called for stopping Saudi and Emirati flights to Aden and committing to the process of quarantine, as flights being stopped in all countries of the world.

During the past three days, Saudi Arabia transferred hundreds of militants affiliated with the Islah Party, including al-Qaeda elements, which caused widespread resentment among citizens, fearing of introducing the Corona virus into Aden.
