SANAA, April 4 (YPA) – Attorney General Judge Nabil al-Azzani on Saturday confirmed that a large number of prisoners have been released in specific cases with the aim of preventing any potential risks of Coronavirus, even though it is not yet in Yemen.
Since the beginning of last March, 1500 prisoners with multiple cases have been released after ascertaining their good conduct and behavior and providing the necessary guarantees.
“A group of those released are among those who were remanded in custody in non-serious cases, and some of them spent a quarter of the time, with taking the necessary guarantees,” Judge al-Azzani said.
According to the Attorney General, nearly 400 of the insolvent persons were released on Friday after the implementation of the period prescribed for them, and that work is being done to address the situation within the early protective motives.
Head of the Rehabilitation and Reform Authority in the Interior Ministry Major General Abdullah al-Hadi confirmed that all necessary measures have been taken to protect prisoners from the epidemic.
Al-Hadi added, “We will work to isolate any new prisoner in special places and subject him to the required tests as part of the measures taken to protect prisoners from the Corona virus.”
