Saudi military commander directs strong threat to STC in Aden

ADEN, April 1 (YPA) – A Saudi military commander directed on Wednesday a strong threat to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias after the failure of the so-called “Riyadh agreement” signed between Hadi’s government and the council in November 2019.

Activists on social media circulated a video clip of the Saudi commander called “Abu Khalid” as he arrived at Ras Abbas camp of the STC’s militia, while they were preparing for protest against salary cuts.

The video showed the military commander speaking to the transitional council’s militia, that their exit means bloodshed in the streets of Aden.

Abu Khalid said that he is not concerned with discussing the salaries that have been suspended since last January, and that he would inform the coalition leadership, stressing the exit of the STC’s militia from the camp means overturning the city on them and their families.

Military observers considered the Saudi threat an indication of Saudi Arabia’s intention to use force against the transitional council faction, which opposes the implementation of the “Riyadh Agreement”.

This comes as Islah Party sent military reinforcements towards Shoqra city in the neighboring province of Abyan, amid the graduation of new military batches after they implemented a military maneuver in early March.
