5 people died due to torrential rain in eastern Yemeni provinces
SANAA, March 27 (YPA) – The death toll from torrential rains in Yemen has risen to five, after two people were killed on Thursday, in the east of the country.
The coordinator of the disaster management in the Yemeni Red Crescent, Wael Karim, said that “a 36-year-old Yemeni man was drowned on Friday due to the heavy torrents in Wadi Jazza of Mahra province.”
In Hadhramaut province, local sources said that a young woman died after a car washed with her family in the “Sah” district, when torrents washed away.
The sources indicated that the girl died of drowning, while the rest of the family survived.
On Wednesday, two citizens were killed and 6 others were injured, in the province of Aden, while another citizen died in Hadramaut, on Tuesday, as a result of torrents, according to medical sources.
During the past three days, the southern and eastern provinces in Yemen witnessed heavy rains, which resulted in torrential rain that caused the flooding of most of these provinces streets and dozens of houses, and a number of cars were washed away by torrents.
