SANAA, March 25 (YPA) – Ministry of Public Health and Population of the Salvation Government on Tuesday confirmed that Yemen is free of any laboratory confirmed infection case of Coronavirus so far.
The Ministry, represented by the Joint Technical Committee for Combating Epidemics in the capital Sanaa, confirmed that it follows up the arrivals and examine the suspected cases upon their arrival.
“We follow arrivals from abroad and work to examine suspected cases immediately,” Spokesman of Joint Technical Committee for Epidemic Control Dr. Abdulhakim al-Kohlan said.
He indicated that the blockade imposed by Saud-led coalition affects the procedures and measures in the provinces.
“The aggression coalition bears responsibility in case of the access of the epidemic into Yemen,” Dr. al-Kohlani said.
Some quantities of medical solutions have arrived, he added, noting that “there are only 400 examination samples provided by the World Health Organization, and they are not sufficient.”
“We are suffering from a shortage of respirators (breathing apparatus), because the coalition has caused the destruction of health sector,” Dr. al-Kohlani said, referring to the coalition’s targeting of health facilities.
The spokesman pointed out that so far, 14 suspected cases have been examined in the capital Sanaa, and nine cases of Yemenis, Pakistanis, and a German have been examined at the Central Laboratory branch in Aden province, and it has been found that all of these cases are free of the virus.
