FM praises UN Secretary-General’s call for ceasefire around world

SANAA, March 24 (YPA) – Foreign Minister, Hisham Sharaf Abdullah, praised the invitation of the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, on Monday evening, to a ceasefire between any countries or parties to a conflict around the world.

In a statement, the Foreign Minister described this important call to unite the efforts of the international community in confronting the Corona virus “Covid-19”.

He expressed the hope that the countries of the aggression coalition and its mercenaries would be aware of the message of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and positive engagement with it, end the operations and aspirations of the military aggression, and lift the siege on the Yemeni people, which is a full-fledged war crime.

“With the spread of the Corona virus in the countries of the world, including the neighboring countries, the situation requires the cooperation of all, and there is no room for politicization and use of the virus as a tool of aggression against the Yemeni people who enter their sixth year after days,” he said.

The Foreign Minister concluded his statement by emphasizing the credibility of the leadership in Sanaa and its serious orientation towards peace and a peaceful political settlement, pointing out that the initiative of the President of the Supreme Political Council that he launched on September 21, 2019, is evidence of the sincerity of this trend.
