Italy closes all nonessential factories due to corona virus

SANAA, March 22 (YPA) – Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced Sunday that all factories across the country will be closed with exception of those essential due to the life-threatening outbreak of the Corona virus.

Conte said: “Our sacrifices in staying at home are minimal compared to what all medical personnel and all those involved in overcoming the emergency do while they continue to work.

But we are announcing a new step. We will stop all production activities on national territory, except for what is necessary.”

Earlier on Saturday, Italy recorded 793 new deaths of the corona virus in 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 3,095 in the northern Lombardy region.

On 11 March, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified corona virus as a “pandemic” or “global epidemic”, saying that infection figures were rising very rapidly, expressing concern that the infection swelled dramatically.
