Classified documents reveal Saleh’s deal to normalize relations with Israeli

The documents, copy of which obtained by Yemen Press Agency cited Saleh as saying that normalization with Israel are the cornerstone to get aid from the US administration.
The documents dated back to March, 2000, in which it documented Saleh’s secret meeting with the heads of Jewish communities in the United States, asking them to help then Yemeni government to be granted generous US support.
Saleh struck a deal with the US-based Jewish community for normalizing political and economic relations with Israel in exchange for that the heads of the Jewish community press the US Congress to pass more aid to Yemen, according to the document.
Saudi Arabia is the main financier for all normalization projects between Arab leaders and Israel, the documents showed.
The documents also showed that Saleh had pledged to the heads of Jewish community that he would help pave the way for the same normalization with presidents of Iraq and Syria.
