4.3 magnitude earthquake hits western Iran

SANAA, March 19 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.4 on Richter scale hit on Thursday western Azerbaijan province, in northwestern Iran.

According to the “IRNA” agency, the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institution of the University of Tehran reported that this earthquake struck the outskirts of the town of Qutour in the West Azerbaijan Province.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 km from the surface of the earth and its center was at the confluence of the northern latitudes 38.53 and the eastern length 44.44 degrees, 7 km from the town of Qutour, 32 km from Zarabad and 44 km from Khoy in the West Azerbaijan Province.

So far, there have been no reports of damage from this earthquake.

It is noteworthy that an earthquake measuring 5.7 Richter hit the town of Qutour on the morning of February 23, which resulted in the injury of 104 people and caused total and partial damage to 5,000 housing units.

On the same day, an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter site hit the town of Zarabad, which led to double the damage caused by the tremor that hit Qutur.
