FM, UN official discuss paying salaries, reopening Sanaa Airport

SANAA, May 2 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf discussed on Wednesday with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande, ways to pay the state staff salaries and reopen Sanaa International Airport for civil and commercial flights.

The meeting dealt with efforts exerted by UN organizations to mitigate the humanitarian suffering of Yemeni people due to the aggressive war on Yemen by Saudi-led coalition countries.

The two sides reviewed the results of Grande’s visit to the western province of Hodeida, confirming the importance of allowing the entry of merchant vessels laden with foodstuffs and goods to Hodeida Port, which receives more than 80 per cent of needs of Yemeni population.
