Activist in Mahra responds to US former presidential advisor

MAHRA, March 5 (YPA) – The external communication official at the peaceful sit-in of Mahra people, Ahmed Balhaf on Thursday commented on a tweet by Frances Townsend, a US former presidential advisor, who visited Mahra province midweek.

“Your meeting was with people loyal to Saudi Arabia, and they could not criticize it for fear and others for specific interests,” the activist Balhaf tweeted addressing Townsend.

He added that Saudi Arabia is pursuing activists and everyone who opposes it and this is one of the reasons that prevented him from meeting Townsend to talk about the violations committed by the Saudi forces towards the citizens in Mahra, and the fact of the so-called “Saudi Reconstruction Program”, which covers the practices of the Saudi occupation.

Balhaf affirmed that he has evidence that Saudi Arabia violates Human rights in Mahra.

The US advisor expressed, in a previous tweet, that she regretted knowing what Balhaf had published, after the end of her visit to Mahra province.

Following Townsend’s visit to Mahra, Balhaf tweeted, saying that Saudi Arabia occupies Mahra, and the visit of the US official came as part of Riyadh’s efforts to mislead international public opinion that it supports development to hide its violations of human rights, and an attempt to resist the popular voice that rejects Saudi presence in the province.
