SANAA, Feb. 6 (YPA) – A scientific symposium entitled “Physician and Patient, Rights and Duties” was held in Sanaa Thursday, organized by the Supreme Medical Council.
With the participation of a number of academicians and doctors, the symposium discussed working papers that dealt with the doctor’s rights and duties, patients’ rights and duties, and the Medical Council’s role in preserving the rights and duties of patient and doctor.
In the symposium, Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutwakkil stressed the importance of defining the rights and duties of the doctor and the patient.
The Minister of Health called on the Medical Council and colleges of medicine in universities to reformulate the concepts of professional ethics in accordance with religious concepts, as well as to re-teach them.
“It is of the patients’ rights to travel for treatment abroad, but the aggression coalition prevented them from their most basic rights, which is to travel to receive treatment abroad,” Dr. al-Mutwakkil said.
