14 students killed in stampede accident in school in Kenya

SANAA, Feb. 4 (YPA) – Kenyan authorities announced on Tuesday that at least 14 students were killed while scrambling to take a ladder at the end of the school day in an elementary school in the west of the country on Monday.

The Daily Nation newspaper quoted the police chief of the Western Region, Pires Kimani, as saying that at least 39 students were seriously injured in the accident, while Education Minister George Maguha said in a television statement, “We lost 14 of them.”

“Daily Nation” reported that some children fell from the third floor while they were rushing.

The newspaper published pictures of parents waiting in front of Kakamega Hospital to know any news about their children.
