Army repels large hostile attack targeting capital Sanaa: Spokesman
SANAA, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Spokesman of the Yemeni army Brigadier general Yahya Sarie on Wednesday said the army forces were able to confront a major aggressive attack that was targeting the capital Sanaa.
Brig. Gen. Sarie confirmed, in a statement aired by the national TV channels Wednesday evening, that the army forces launched a wide counter-attack called “Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous” operation in response to the attempt to storm Sanaa.
According to the statement, the operation resulted in the liberation of more than 2,500 square kilometers east of Marib city, after defeating 17 brigades and 20 battalions of the enemy forces and seizing their military gear, two brigades of the enemy forces stationed in Serwah district of Marib and two others stationed in Jawf junction area.
The statement affirmed that the army’s drones and missile force carried out successful operations against Saudi Aramco Company in Najran, Khamis Mushait base in Jizan and several sensitive targets in the depth of Saudi territory.
The spokesman said that the armed forces would continue to work to liberate all lands of the Republic of Yemen and achieving complete independence.
