Major countries ambassadors call for stopping military escalation in Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) – Ambassadors of the United States of America, Russia, the United Kingdom and France to the so-called “legitimate government” on Sunday warned against the repercussions of the recent military escalation that Yemen is witnessing.

The ambassadors said, in a joint statement, that the escalation has caused the killing of civilians and the displacement of families, warning of what they described as “the decline in progress made in stopping the escalation.”

The statement called on the leaders of all parties to stop the fighting immediately, confirming the full support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and his call for all parties to adhere to initiatives of stopping the escalation and to continue to enhance those initiatives.

The statement comes after Saudi-led coalition forces violated the armistice and escalated fighting on the fronts of Nehm, Jawf, Marib and Bayda, as well as the intensification of the coalition’s indiscriminate air bombing on various Yemeni areas.
