ICRC humanitarian role in Yemen discussed

SANAA, Dec. 25 (YPA) – Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Resources Major General Ali al-Kohlani on Wednesday met with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s head of protection department in Yemen Robert Zimmerman and deputy head of ICRC delegation Freya Raddi.

The meeting discussed the ICRC’s humanitarian role regarding the issues of war prisoners and wounded and in providing assistance to civilians in a number of areas in light of the continued aggression and siege.

In the meeting, Maj. Gen. al-Kohlani assured that the armed forces perform their duties professionally and in compliance with international humanitarian law and are keen to protect civilian objects and civilians.
