7 people injured in southwest China earthquake

SANAA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – At least seven people were injured in an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, which hit the city of Nijiang in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

The provincial authorities said, in a statement on Wednesday, that the earthquake center was monitored at a depth of 14 kilometers in the “Zigong County” and medical staff and firefighters were sent to carry out rescue operations, while all the injured were taken to hospital.

The authorities added that the emergency response plan had been activated by the provincial railway administration, including a speed limit and an OS check, which led to the delay of some trains.
