We have lead, real war has not yet begun: Defense Minister

SANAA, Nov. 28 (YPA) – Defense Minister Major General Mohammed Nasser al-Atefi on Thursday said the army and popular committees have the lead and possess strategic deterrent weapons to defend the nation and its sovereignty.

In a statement to the official Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Independence Day, November 30, Maj. Gen. al-Atefi addressed two messages: the first to Saudi-led coalition countries, saying that “the real war between them and us has not yet begun.”

The Defense Minister’s second message is addressed to the world countries and its entities in general, including the coalition countries and the Zionist entity, saying that “the global national security, especially in the economic aspect, is dependent on the sovereignty and stability of the national security of the Republic of Yemen.”

Maj. Gen. al-Atefi explained that the international national interests, especially economic ones, would be harmed more than some envision in case of the continuation of the coalition aggression and the world’s silence on the coalition’s crimes against Yemen and Yemenis.

“This is not out of showing off or media consumption, but we have to defend the Yemeni people being killed by various means and aggressive practices, while the world is watching without any move,” the minister stressed.
