SANAA, Nov. 24 (YPA) – The Shura Council’s Speaker Mohammed al-Aidarous on Sunday called on United Nations and the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and Arab World (ASSECAA) to lead an international movement to stop Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In his letters he sent to UN’s Secretary-General, President of ASSECAA and Heads of parliaments in the association member states, al-Aidarous condemned the irresponsible US declaration on Israeli settlements, which violates the Fourth Geneva Convention that prohibits the occupation authority from transferring Israelis to the occupied Palestinian territories.
The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement last week is totally incompatible with international law, resolutions of international legitimacy and Security Council resolutions, in particular resolution 2334, which opposes Israeli settlement, he added.
The letters stressed that the US administration is not qualified or authorized to cancel the resolutions of international legitimacy, and has not the right to give any legitimacy to the Israeli settlement.
Al-Aidarous called for unity of positions rejecting the American administration’s attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue within the framework of the so-called the century deal.
