Industry, Agriculture Ministries discuss self-sufficiency in clothes industry

SANAA, Nov. 16 (YPA) – Ministries of Industry and Agriculture on Saturday discussed, in a joint meeting held in Sanaa and headed by the Supreme Political Council’s member Ahmed al-Rahwi, the practical steps to reach self-sufficiency in clothes industry.

The meeting dealt with ways to re-operate the textile factory in the capital Sanaa with full capacity to produce clothes and meet the needs of local markets, schools and civil facilities.

A committee was formed, during the meeting, from the two ministries to develop a vision of joint coordination to enable farmers to grow cotton and ensure its marketing, in addition to providing raw materials for the textile factory.

At the meeting, al-Rahwi confirmed the determination of the political leadership to take all methods to achieve self-sufficiency in the garment industry and food security by depending on the country’s own resources.
