PM meets WFP Regional Director

SANAA, Nov. 12 (YPA) – Prime Minister Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtour met on Tuesday the Regional Director of WFP in the Middle East and North Africa, Muhannad Hadi.

At the meeting, the officials discussed the progress of the WFP activities and programs in Yemen in face humanitarian situation caused by Saudi-led aggression coalition has pushed millions of Yemenis to famine for nearly five years.

Bin Habtour praised the efforts exerted by the WFP in fighting the specter of famine in Yemen and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the humanitarian role of the WFP’s program on the national level and its humanitarian interventions to target the large number of the poorest families, especially in remote areas.

The WFP official said the WFP would continue to carry out its humanitarian work and duties towards Yemen, affirming the WFP’s activities in Yemen are the largest in the world due to the majority of Yemenis suffer from the humanitarian crisis and tragedy.
