Water Minister stresses importance of data analysis to control cholera

SANAA, Oct. 23 (YPA) – Minister of Water and Environment Nabil al-Wazir on Wednesday stressed the importance of accelerating data analysis to determine interventions to combat cholera epidemic.

At a meeting of the Ministry’s emergency operations room, al-Wazir noted that the availability of accurate information and data allows all partners and stakeholders involved in the fight against the epidemic, particularly the Ministry of Water to determine the exact intervention required according to the needs of each affected area.

Al-Wazir revealed a new mechanism to control cholera, recently approved, which would achieve positive results on a large scale and contribute significantly to the optimal utilization of the rapid response teams (RRTS) and targeting of confirmed cases of the epidemic.

In this regard, the Minister of Water touched on the ministry’s efforts to combat the epidemic in coordination with UNICEF.

The meeting was briefed on the general epidemiological situation for the period from the 1st to 14th of October.
