SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – At least one Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded in the border town of Tell Abyad in Syria after an attack by Kurdish YPG fighters despite a five-day ceasefire.
The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the attack on Turkish soldiers while they were on a reconnaissance and surveillance mission in the city, according to Reuters.
The Statement confirmed that the “Turkish forces responded to the attack.”
Turkey remains committed to the armistice deal despite violations, the statement added.
Turkey and Washington agreed last Thursday to suspend Ankara’s offensive for 120 hours until the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) withdraw from the “safe zone” in northeastern Syria.
