SANAA, Oct. 16 (YPA) – At least three militants were killed in clashes with Indian police special forces deployed on Wednesday morning in the province, police said.
According to Sputnik, last week, the Indian Army Command announced that some 500 militants were preparing to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
At the same time, according to New Delhi, between 200 and 300 terrorists have already infiltrated India from a neighboring country and are carrying out subversive activities there.
The state of Jammu and Kashmir is home to separatists fighting for independence or joining Pakistan, yet there is no official border in Kashmir between the Indian and Pakistani armies except the dividing line.
India and Pakistan claim sovereignty over the entire mountainous region of Kashmir as a divided region.
The two countries fought two wars over the Kashmir dispute, and last August India, in a move to extend control over Jammu and Kashmir, in which Pakistan and China claim rights, abolished a constitutional provision relating to the mandate that would have allowed it to enact its own laws.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to change Kashmir’s special status has been met with harsh criticism from China and its ally Pakistan.
