SHABWAH, Oct. 14 (YPA) – Saudi -backed forces (Hadi and Islah party militias) in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen, arrested four activists in Beyhan district, about 200 kilometers from Ataq city, the provincial capital, local sources reported on Sunday.
According to the sources, Islah militias kidnapped the activists, Taha Hadeer, Muzaffar Choban, Hijab al-Najjar, and Saleh Matih, and took them to an unknown destination.
The sources reported on Thursday that the governor of Shabwah in the Saudi-led coalition backed government ordered the arrest of 17 politicians and media, including journalist Jamal Schniter, who was released hours after his arrest and did not know the fate of the rest.
They said that campaign included the arrest of activists on social media who were opposed to the Islah party in the province.
The Islah factions have been violating Shabwah for two months, following their control of the province, which observers and activists have counted in the context of the undeclared differences between Saudi Arabia and the UAE through their tools, to control the southern provinces and exploit their wealth.
