FM warns of any military escalation south of Red Sea

SANAA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Friday warned of the repercussions of targeting an Iranian oil tanker in the Red Sea.

“Such irresponsible provocative acts give an opportunity for external parties to increase the intensity of differences between some countries in the region,” Sharaf said in a statement.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that the targeting of oil tankers is very dangerous and threatens the sea environment south of the Red Sea, as a result of the environmental pollution, in addition to the negative impact on the economies of the region countries and the commercial shipping line in the Red Sea.

Sharaf warned Saudi-UAE aggression coalition countries that any military escalation targeting Hodeidah province or any area along the Yemeni coasts would be met with great and violent response.

He called for the aggression coalition countries and those who support them in the international arena to deal positively with the initiative launched by President of the Supreme Political Council for peace.
