Shura’s Speaker calls on int’l community to press for lifting siege on Yemen

SANAA, Oct. 6 (Saba) – Speaker of the Shura Council Mohammed Hussein al-Aidarous on Sunday called on the international community to play role in pressing Saudi-led aggression coalition for lifting the siege on Yemen.

This was stated in the letters he addressed to Secretary General of the League of Arab States, President of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World, heads of the Senate and Shura Councils in the Association, Secretary General of the United Nations and his envoy to Yemen and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen.

The letters demanded the embodiment of the humanitarian objectives announced by regional and international organizations and bodies by exercising pressure on the aggression coalition to lift the all-out economic blockade.

The Shura Speaker’s letters also called for releasing ships loaded with food, medicine and oil derivatives and allowing them to urgently unload their cargo at Hodeidah port, as well as re-opening of Sanaa International Airport and neutralizing the national economy, including the disbursement of the employees’ salaries that the aggression coalition caused their interception for three and a half years.

Al-Aidarous considered the prevention of oil ships access to Hodeidah port a violation of Sweden Agreement regarding the commitment of both parties to facilitate the movement of civilians and goods to and from the city of Hodeidah and its ports.
