Smart meters is advanced step in electricity sector: Deputy PM
SANAA, Oct. 5 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for Development and Economic Affairs Dr. Hussein Maqbouli on Saturday said that smart meters are an advanced step in the electricity sector to collect sales directly and activate the Electricity Corporation.
During a workshop on pre-payment system and its impact on the electricity system, organized by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Maqbouli explained that the electricity sector needs to improve the electricity’s generation, network and distribution, and to enhance the collection of debts.
Dr. Maqbouli warned of a humanitarian catastrophe due to the continuation of Saudi-led coalition in preventing the entry of oil derivatives ships, which would double the spread of diseases and epidemics.
He held the United Nations responsible for effects of holding oil derivatives ships despite obtaining permits, which would exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy Abdulghani l-Madani pointed to the importance of the pre-payment system for the development and collection of revenues and the reduction of debts.
