SANAA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman has drooped a confession of being responsible for the murder of the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the US FRONTLINEreported on Thursday.
According the FRONTLINE, ” now, in a newly published conversation with FRONTLINE’s correspondent Martin Smith, the Saudi leader speaks out for the first time about his role in Khashoggi’s murder — telling Smith that the killing happened on his watch.
“It happened under my watch,” MBS told Smith. “I get all the responsibility, because it happened under my watch.”
Smith insisted on understanding how such a major crime occurred without the crown prince’s knowledge, justifying the latter by saying that he had 20 million citizens and three million employees.
“I have officials and ministers who are following things, they are responsible and they have the authority to do that,” the Saudi crown prince said.
The conversation took place in December 2018, when Smith asked to meet Mohammed Bin Salman on the sidelines of a car race near the Saudi capital Riyadh.
This was two months after the Saudi journalist was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.
The crime is believed to have taken place in a gruesome manner, as the body has not yet been found, while Riyadh is keeping a secret of its details, and Ankara is occasionally publishing new details, as investigations continue.
The incident provoked angry reactions around the world and tarnished the kingdom’s image on the international scene.
