SANAA, Sept. 17 (YPA) – The head of Amnesty International on Tuesday called on the international community to redouble efforts to end the devastating violence in Yemen instead of military intervention in the Middle East.
The rights group’s secretary general, Kumi Naidoo, said in an interview with AFP” “we need to stop the bleeding right now, and any talk of military intervention right now will only exacerbate a bad situation and aggravate suffering.”
“The appalling levels of violence against people – as well as the bombing of hospitals, destroying of water infrastructure have been stopped by political will,” Naidoo said.
Naidoo added “Sadly, it appears that some governments, if they are allied with the United States, like Saudi Arabia, which can get away with crimes.”
