Salvation Govt launches new campaign to fight cholera

SANAA, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Saturday launched in the capital Sanaa the second national campaign to fight cholera, which is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.

The campaign targets three districts, namely Al-Sabeen, Al-Wahda and Shaub, where the most prevalent cholera epidemic in the capital, and will continue from September 14 to 22nd of the same month, targeting age groups of one year and up.

“The campaign is providing the vaccine before the epidemic, which has spread as a result of the war on Yemen and the siege and has caused many deaths,” Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor said in a statement to Yemen Press Agency.

Dr. bin Habtoor explained that more than 1.2 million people would benefit from the campaign through access to vaccines against the epidemic that has killed the Yemeni people.

He expressed his hope that the UN and international organizations would continue to work alongside the government sectors in eradicating the cholera pandemic throughout Yemen.
