UAE-backed militias block main highway of Qalansiyah City in Socotra Island

SOCOTRA, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Groups of the so-called “Southern Transitional Council militias which funded by ” The United Arab Emirates in Socotra have blocked the highway leading to the city of Qalansiyah in the Island, local sources reported on Friday.

According to the local sources, “The UAE delegate in Socotra on Friday mobilized armed groups and ordered them to cut off the roads of Qalansiyah to prevent forces belonging to “Saudi Arabia” from entering and returning generators that were looted from the electricity establishment and turned into a private UAE institution.

They added that the armed groups of STC militias attacked Saudi-backed military pickups present in the Directorate of Qalansiyah .

“Saudi militias moved to Qalansiyah to open the road after it was cut off from transitional militias and attacked Saudi military forces and crews,” it said.

Meanwhile, Emirati media are promoting what it calls a “popular uprising in Qalansiyah against Islah”, following orders by Hadi’s governor Ramzi Mahrous to his forces to restore the island’s generators after they were looted by UAE militias.

On Tuesday, sources spoke about a plan to overthrow the province’s institutions with the planning of the UAE through its representative Brigadier Khalfan al-Mazroui after his recent arrival on the island and met with sheikhs and leaders loyal to the UAE, followed by the attack on the Electricity Corporation of Qalansiyah and the looting of its generators.
